KRDB: Get Into A Home That Gives Back

Design That's Not Disposable

No longer should design be thought of as simply "surface." Headed by Frog Design's Jon Kolko, the Austin Center for Design is dedicated to using design as a strategy and solution to many of our community's problems, such as homelessness, health care, education, poverty, sustainability. The Center is now accepting applications for the 2010 academic year. A degree is not a prerequisite, but you do need a portfolio and an "existing interest and proven track record in art, design, or technology."

Seven Eco-friendly Design Tips

1) Be clear about your budget. It'll help your designer make better decisions.
2) The internet has become the number one source of information, so focus less on print and more on your Web site, e-newsletter, e-invites & blasts, electronic press-kits and social media marketing.

If you must print…

3) Flyers are viewed by one person then usually discarded immediately. Consider larger pieces such as posters, banners, displays or even billboards. These items have a longer life-span and much bigger reach.
